People were calling Utah the "BCS Busters" in 2004. Others were calling them the "Cinderella" of college football. Regardless of their title, the Utes proved that they were simply one of the best teams in the Nation at 12-0!!! Utah, under Head-Coach Urban Meyer, ran their spread-it-around offense to perfection, and flew to the ball on defense, to coast to a 35-7 win over Pittsburgh, in the 34th Annual "Tostitos Fiesta Bowl" on New Year's Day, capping their *PERFECT SEASON* with an exclamation point on the bright BCS stage resulting in several of their star players being invited to the Hula Bowl.
This is Marty Johnson's Game-Worn & *Autographed* Jersey #5 that was worn in the 2005 West Hula Bowl! It shows superb game use, with numerous hit marks, helmet paint transfers & burn-marks, & tape residue. The jersey has all the proper tagging (Russell tagging - Size '48' neck tagging (See Photos).
Marty has signed this 'gamer' 2-times ......on the front & back of his jersey, Utah *Star* Running Back - Marty Johnson had a 18-yard TD reception from *Super-Star* QB-Alex Smith, and 10-carries in the 2005 "Fiesta Bowl" victory. Marty was the Utes leading rusher, with 802-yards & 15-TD's in 2004, averaging 4.9-yards per carry his Senior Season, in a very complex, talented offense!
This is what Marty wore, his final game in his Senior Season for Utah, in the Tostitos "Fiesta Bowl"! Johnson was the NCAA's leading rusher in 2002 (202.5-ypg. / 405-yards) for the first two weeks, before a season-ending knee injury in the fourth quarter of Utah's 40-13 win over Indiana on Sept. 7th. His 176-yards vs. Utah State on Aug. 31 was best season-opener ever by a Ute! Johnson rushed for 229-yards vs. Indiana, 4th best rushing total in school history, and was named Mountain West Conference "Offensive Player of the Week", averaging 7.0 yards per carry, despite playing in just 2-games!!!
Utah became the first team from a non-BCS conference to earn a spot in one of the four BCS Bowls by running the table, with dominating, HUGE victories over Texas A&M, Arizona and North Carolina.
This is a RARE jersey of "All-Mid-West Conf." 2nd Team *Star* - This Jersey shows excellent game use, for only one game ......with many hit-marks, quite-a-few helmet paint transfers, & a beautiful "Hula Bowl" Patch sewn-on the Right shoulder.
